The reason I bought the Inferno in the first place was to be able to record HLG for delivery in HDR as well as for use as an HDR grading monitor. So it came as quite a surprise after importing the footage from today’s shoot to discover that the Prores HQ files I’d imported into Final Cut Pro were not HLG, but rec.709. Glancing at the Atomos support page, I realized that my Shogun was running firmware v.8.4 and that the most recent update is v.8.42, which includes the following bug fixes:
HDR HLG and PQ Loop out over value gain issue fixed.
Fixed an issue where the HDR slider value was not saved when using Auto HDR mode.
20% improvement to system start up time.
Still no HLG!
Their website says this:
SUBSEQUENT OS UPDATES EVERY 4-5 WEEKS WITH THE FOLLOWING FEATURE PRIORITY:
Raw Recording (Sony FS, Canon, Arri, Panasonic)
So I suppose we can expect to be able to record HLG by summer at the latest?
