My longest HDR video to date, it took Compressor a ridiculous 4-1/2 hours to create the HEVC 10-bit file and an additional 24 hours for YouTube to finish processing the HD version! I’ve received many requests to do an HDR grading tutorial on YouTube, but a screen recording with QuickTime would be in SDR with wacky colors and pointing a camera at my laptop’s display doesn’t seem like the right answer either. In the video, I give advice on how to avoid blown-out highlights when exposing to the right; preventing burn-in on your OLED TV while color correcting; how far to pull shadows down in post; and how bright skin tones should be, along with other useful information.
