Will the Vision Pro crush all OLED televisions currently on the market?

This could potentially allow viewers for the first time to enjoy HDR content in a virtually perfect environment, free of window light and light bouncing off walls in the room that destroy contrast, preventing us from seeing details in the shadows. Regarding the displays, FlatpanelsHD writes:

“DSCC added that for the two micro-OLED displays in Apple’s Vision Pro the silicon backplane is made by TSMC, while the white OLED with color filters frontplane is from Sony. The front OLED display used to show your eyes to the outside world is made by LG Display.”

Some are also saying actual brightness that reaches the eyes will be much less than 5,000 nits.

  1. Generally with all high end VR/AR headsets the image quality is still polluted by the lenses, chromatic aberration etc. I don’t know if apple resolved that but the standard unit isn’t compatible with wearing glasses and the custom prescription lenses you will need per user are said to be in the region of another 600 bucks. If the image quality is as good as the specs though, I’m certainly interested as a home theatre enthusiast. My mirrorless Sony A1 camera has an amazing digital viewfinder so I can imagine the enhanced Vision Pro optics will a magnitude better.
