Christopher Nolan Praises 4K UHD HDR

You might say that Christopher Nolan’s a huge fan of HDR. During his acceptance speech upon receiving the DEG Vanguard Award during the 4K Ultra HD Summit at Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center in 2018, Nolan recounted how home viewing has impacted the structure of his films and shared his enthusiasm for 4K Ultra HD Blu ray.

“It really puts us in a position where we can get closer and closer to a theatrical print in the home,” Nolan said of 4K UHD with HDR.

And at a screening event of Oppenheimer in Los Angeles on November 13, 2023, the director said,

“I’m known for my love of theatrical and put my whole life into that, but, the truth is, the way the film goes out at home is equally important,”
