The Brothers Sun: The Worst Cinematography Of 2024?

“I like 20Ks and T12s pounding through windows.”

The show is one of the first important TV releases of the year 2024 on Netflix after its launch on January 4, 2024. The Brothers Sun received a score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes…” – The Economic Times

After reading interviews with cinematographer C. Kim Miles over at Jon Fauer’s Film and Digital Times and at IndieWire and seeing good ratings over at IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, we were mildly interested in watching the family comedy/action drama The Brothers Sun. Given that the series was shot with the Alexa Mini LF paired with Signature Primes and DNA Primes and graded by Maxine Gervais of Picture Shop, we certainly weren’t expecting each and every scene to be plagued by distracting blown-out highlights and crushed shadows, as they are throughout the entire eight episodes. There are also weird inconsistencies in the grade that don’t make narrative sense. For instance, in episode one, when the character Bruce leaves for school in the morning, the outdoors is graded darker than inside the house even though it’s a clear day.
