Shameless YouTuber Plagiarizes Patrick Tomasso’s Dumb Anti-HDR Video

In an idiotic rant entitled Why Do Movies Look Worse Now?, YouTuber Luke Riether copies Patrick Tomasso’s Why Don’t Movies Look Like Movies Anymore? almost word-for-word, blaming HDR for what he perceives as the flat, lifeless look of today’s movies. Riether even all but admits to plagiarism, but refuses to take his video down:

“Hey everyone, I want to address this directly. After reviewing the feedback, I realize this video ended up being way too similar to Patrick Tomasso’s video. That wasn’t my intention, and I take full responsibility. This is a topic that’s been widely discussed in the filmmaking community, and I wanted to add to the conversation—but in doing so, my script ended up following too closely to Patrick’s approach. I respect Patrick’s work and the effort he puts into his content, and if you haven’t seen his video yet, I encourage you to check it out here. Moving forward, I’ll be making sure my videos are fully based on my own insights and experiences to bring original value to this community. I always test my scripts for originality, but in this case, I clearly missed the mark. I appreciate those of you who support honest filmmaking discussions, and I’ll keep pushing to make this a space where we can all learn and grow together. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.”

What exactly does he mean by “I always test my scripts for originality.”? Is that some sort of joke, or what?
