Julien Leclercq To Direct New Series For Netflix

French director Julien Leclercq (Ganglands) will be making a new series for Netflix: GIGN. The GIGN is the elite police tactical unit of the National Gendarmerie of France. Among its missions are counterterrorism, hostage rescue, surveillance of national threats, protection of government officials, critical site protection (such as French embassies in war-torn countries), and targeting organized crime. Over at Instagram, Leclercq writes:

After Ganglands, we are proud to announce my next series: GIGN. 13 years after the release of the film L’ASSAUT, I have the chance to find this totally out of the ordinary team again. We shall enter into their privacy. And closest to the action. The series will be made with the support of GIGN. Series created with my writing partner Sylvain Caron, and produced with my forever partner Julien Madon. Tomer Sisley in the lead role. The rest of the casting is underway… The values of this group are ultimate: respect for life, commitment, body spirit and the sense of sacrifice. Long live the GIGN! Let’s go!
