Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Autofocus Woes

I’m getting superb color rendition as usual with Sony’s new 24mm f/1.4 GM lens, but serious AF issues. Even when the subject is framed by the face detect box, the images are blurry. I’m going to compare it to the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 but whatever the results, I think I’ll be returning the prime. I just can’t afford out-of-focus shots.

Update [20 Nov. 2018] I’m not sure anymore whether my problems with the 24mm f/1.4 are because of the AF or the lens itself. I ran a couple of tests with the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 and it is insanely sharp at 24mm. I’ll be returning the 24mm f/1.4 later this afternoon.

Sony a7 III, Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM. Adjusted luminance and saturation, no color correction in post.
