Josh Pines’ Sony Venice LUT With RED IPP2

Look 1, developed by Picture Shop Senior Colorist Jason Fabbro (Captain Marvel, Thor:Ragnorak, Ready Player One) was created using the Lo Con Base LUT and offers slightly more contrast and saturation, while the reds and highlights have been pulled down to look less digital.

Download the original movie here.

Four of the new custom LUTs created by Picture Shop for the Sony Venice are HDR PQ Rec.2020. They’re compatible with all Sony cameras that record S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine, but you can also use them to grade RED footage. Here’s how to set up your project in DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.

Here are the Camera RAW settings.

On the color management page, use separate color space and gamma and select Sony S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 for the timeline color space.

On the color page, the first node will be the CST. Set the parameters as follows. All grading will be done between the CST and the Josh Pines LUT.

  1. I wish I had the money for a Komodo. The output and the LUT makes it look so good like a quasi Venice at home at a fraction of the cost. I look at 4K and 8K videos made by amateurs and they don’t come close to the fine details as this.
