Update: New, simplified workflow for Leeming LUT One – Panasonic HLG v501 (16-235) here.
Once you’ve created your library, event and project and imported footage, you’ll notice that clips in the browser appear blown-out like the image below.

What you’ll want to do is go into Final Cut Preferences and select ‘Show HDR as RAW values’.

This feature only affects clips in the browser. It does not enable viewing rec. 2020 footage in the timeline. In the browser, select Titles, then Adjustment Layer, and drag it over the clips in the timeline.

With the Adjustment Layer highlighted, go into the Effects Browser, choose Color, then double click on Custom LUT.

Click on the Adjustment Layer and in the Inspector, select Leeming LUT Fixie – Video to Full Range, Input Rec. 2020 HLG, Output Rec. 709.

In the browser, once again select Titles and drag a second Adjustment Layer over the previous one.

Highlight the second Adjustment Layer and in the Color section of the Effects Browser, double click on Custom LUT.

In the Inspector, select Leeming LUT One – Panasonic HLG v501.

And now, you’re ready to create your masterpiece!
