a7s III: Insanely Beautiful 4K HDR!

This video takes us for a leisurely early morning stroll around the Bund, a waterfront area and protected historical district in central Shanghai. It was shot in HLG3, 4K 60p with the Sony 20mm f/1.8 G lens and audio was captured with the Sony ECM-B1M shotgun microphone. To the best of my knowledge, this is all straight out of camera, as HLG does not lend itself to grading. The author says he mostly used autofocus and auto white balance. It pretty much destroys this 8K HDR PQ video shot in Prague with the R5. hehe Watching this on my LG C7, the amount of detail is incredible, seemingly infinite; exposure and white balance seem just about perfect. There are a few isolated instances of intense colors that fairly burst off the screen, but it is the muted ones that really capture my attention. Although the lens is ridiculously sharp, I struggled to find a hint of aliasing or moire! The HDR out of this camera towers over anything I’ve seen shot in SDR and it’s one of the chief reasons I’ve pre-ordered the a7s III. The video must be watched in HDR to be appreciated.
